Windscreen advice needed

I’m going on some lengthy rides this year and looking for a taller windscreen. At 5’8”, im not very tall but I don’t want to get my ass kicked my the wind the entire ride. I’ll have a 15 liter tank bag so any tucking I usually do will be out of the question. Any reccomendations are greatly appreciated. TIA

Best,
Ron

I can help you with Gen one as I’ve tried everything. No experience on the Gen 2. I’m in Goodlettsville and my friend Doug who has the same bike is in Franklin

I'm 5'10" and have tried a number of screens finally staying with a Zero Gravity Touring Screen. It doesn't give complete wind protection but enough to eliminate wind buffeting. The wind hits me at mid visor of my helmet. I did try an MRA spoiler but that just added turbulence. The stock screen is absolutely horrible, causes buffeting at most speeds. The GIVI is big but it is no better than the ZG and makes more noise. I liked the ZG DB but it does get tiring on long stretches on the highway.

Good luck finding one you like, it's a bit of a gamble finding one that suits.

I'm in the same boat. The stock screen does suck.
While riding it does remind me of my friends 1984 GS550ES.(back then) so that's a plus, but about the only plus to speak of.

Since we have basically a naked bike, you're just not going to get the Goldwing type wind cocoon.

I tried wider, taller, wide and tall. Still got buffeting and noise.

The only solution that was quieter and calmer wind was to do the opposite of what you think you should do - cut the screen down.

That way clean air hits your lower chest, and the clean air doesn't knock you around, get tiring, etc.

Try this experiment - take your screen off and ride at speed for a bit. See if this might work for you.

I agree with WDD. The chopped down stock windscreen and the Copperdawg windscreens have proven to provide my 5'6" self the smoothest air flow. Do yourself a favor and remove your windscreen and take a ride.

This Rifle windscreen will provide total protection, but it requires modding... you have to unbolt the FZ1 and put an FJR under it.
