Tried to do a close up shot of this big guy. Got these all over my bushes out front collecting pollen. I know my phone can do much better, I just gotta learn to use it.

How these big bodies fly with those skinny wings is beyond me though.

As everyone knows, bumblebees theoretically can't fly, just like a shaft drive bike can't wheelie.

True. I think they just follow the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and throw themselves at the ground and miss.

Bee's, I had bee's last night. I helped my wife capture a swarm and put them in a bee box. No pictures of the swarm, we were surrounded by hundreds of angry buzzing bees. Never really had them all riled up like that before. They are pretty calm when we just check on them. I held the blue rubber maid tub under the tree branch they were on while my wife shoot the tree. Here she is putting them into a hive.

OK they are in, we'll see if they stay.

The power of those low displacement wings is created by very high rpm, ummm… I mean bps (beats per second).

I notice what looks like a black camera on a post & possibly a solar panel and directional antenna on another pole. Are the hives being monitored remotely?

This is at the back of an apple orchard, they have a store up front where they sell apples and jams and stuff. As an educational tool about pollination they put the camera with solar to power it facing the hives. They have a wireless connection to the store and show the hives on a TV mounted on the wall.

They get quite a few school tours too and we don't necessarily want a bunch of kids right by the bees but want the kids to know how important they are.
