It seems to me (and I'm no mechanic!) bigger diameter pistons allow / provide more torque than smaller and shorter stroke allows / forces more rpm's to provide the same amount of power. From the spec chart we have a larger bore and smaller stroke. If my engine physics ring true and the referenced dyno chart above can be validated (even if it's flat model to model but then certainly to a lesser extent) then something may be (is) out of whack with the production version. |

Conventional wisdom is that a longer stroke produces more torque, may actually be true.

Wardog,
Isnt the exhaust on 2006 R-1 4<1<2 not 4<2<1 as stated in your comparison chart. Not that it makes a hoot. Barry :-) |

![]() I have to say, I absolutly love the R1, I started riding on my '01 FZ1 4 years ago, and it is still in the garage. It was my first bike and I will always have a place for it in my heart, but the R1 is so much more visceral that I cannot go back. At least not until my knees go out and I can't get on it anymore ;) Anyways, sorry for the ![]() |

Very good info Wardog, indeed looks like the 06 FZ is a carbon copy of the R1 with a few tweeks. I'm very interested to hear from 06 owners when they have a chance to get some performance mods to see what that awesome machine is truely capable of!

If the footpegs are higher than the R1 , then why do they drag so easily? Preload is up, I weigh 210. I changed out the rubber things for tapered short pegs. Now my foot drags and I am up on my toes. Any suggestions short of new bike? Are there some inexpensive rearsets?

Rearsets, yes (you can do a search for them), but inexpensive.....I guess that is relative to what you are willing to pay!
